Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

Stipulations on Terminating a Lease

My fiance and I are under a 12 month lease. His job transferred him over 75 miles away and we must terminate our lease. Our leasing agent says we must pay 2 months extra rent for terminating the lease.

Is there any stipulation on a lease that if you move a certain amount of miles you do not have to pay the penalty fees?? Please help.

Thank you.

Re: Stipulations on Terminating a Lease

No, there is no statute allowing you to breach a

lease agreement because of having to move. You

are bound by the lease unless the landlord has

in some way materially breached it.
