Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

being sued by insurance company

I was renting, we had a house fire which was ruled unintentional. The owners of the property (landlord)was paid for loss now insurance company is coming after my husband and I and suing us. Before the fire there were many problems with the house such as cracks, wiring, broken windows no smoke detectores or fire extinguishers, holes in the floors, leaky roof, etc. My question is should I fight this? Should I pay the hole amount or only for part due to problems with the house? What kind of lawyer do I need? Do you know of any?
