being sued for proceeds of sale
joint owner is suing for more than his 50%. Falsely claims of verbal contract. I have no money left. I am on a fixed income, ss only. Do I need to pay an attorney a 3,000 retainer to process.

No. You may defend yourself without an attorney. However, you do need some legal advice so you will have the opportunity to have your side heard by the judge. Try calling the local bar association referral service to obtain an inexpensive consultation with a lawyer. If your local bar association has no such, or you can't find it, call the Florida Bar referral service for a referral to an attorney who will give you one-half hour for $25.00.
