Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

termination of a lease on an apartment

My question is if I am wanting to buy my own condo, but I am currently lease an apartment. I am in a seven month lease and it does not end until September. Is there any way of getting out of the lease without paying a crazy fee?

Your maximum exposure is the rent from now to the end of the lease. You may be able to negotiate a lesser sum with your landlord. Any agreement should be in writing.

Mr. Rosenfeld is right. The answer is probably in your lease agreement. Read it. If you make any agreement with the landlord that allows you to terminate the lease early, get it in writing and make sure it states that it supersedes the lease agreement. Good luck.
