Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

Termination of leasing

I live in Florida in a rented apartment. I signed a six month lease contract that ends in october 31. I just got a new job out of Florida, and I have to leave in June 17. My Land lord told me that If she does not find anybody to replace me, I will have to pay the entire leasing until 10/31.

Is there anything I can do? I dont mind to pay more 30 or 60 days, but I think that 10/31 is just not fair.

Actualy in the contract there is no item addresing this matter.

I am sorry if you think it is not fair, but the law states that the lease which is a contract is fully enforceable. In fact, during the recent legislative session, a new law was passed that will add a 2 month additional rent penalty for anyone who breaks a lease early.

What you need to do is to try to help the landlord find a replacement tenant or to sublet your apartment to someone who will live out the rest of your lease. This will help mitigate your damages.
