Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

Timeshare foreclosure

My friend owns a timeshare here in the us but lives in another country. This person is not a us resident but was a visitor and got caught into buying a timeshare. This person in now unable to afford to pay anymore after two years. If they stop paying the mortgage and fees , will it affect their credit or them in any way.
