Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida
verbal agreements about termination of tenancy without specific term
A friend offered a room in their house for me to stay as an interim until I found a job and moved out of the state. The only agreement was I would pay him a flat fee every month that I resided. There was no written agreement offered since we are friends because ''he wanted to help me out in a bind.''
I started making payments on Feb. 8 and continued to pay consecutively on the same day of the month. Through his suggestion he wanted me to move out by the end of May at the latest. An opportunity was made available on the spur of the moment and I moved out May 4. I was paid through May 8. I didn't tell him that I was moving because things had to happen fast due to timing. He then made the situation a personal issue and is now claiming that I had to give him notice of my departure and that I owe him for days that were not covered.
Does he have any validity to his point and can he take legal action?

Re: verbal agreements about termination of tenancy without specific term
If nothing was discussed as to when you could vacate you would be considered a month to month tenant and must give 30 days prior notice of vacating. If it was agreed you would be moving out when you got a job I don't think any notice would be required.
