Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida
I'm a week late on my rent. I made a written promise to pay today but I'm still short.
What can I do for more time like say until payday? The landlord has also been bulling me with letters about amending the lease to cover a increase for trash and other utilities that have gone up. I refuse to sign and they say that I'm in violation of my lease.
Please help...Thanks

There is nothing you can do to buy more time. But, the landlord will have to follow eviction procedures, which include giving you written notice and opportunity to cure (pay up), file the eviction with the court, have you served with the eviction, go to the hearing, then the sheriff will come to throw you out. That happens rather quickly, but not overnight.
Don't sign an amendment to the lease if you don't agree.
