wrong name on mortgage

how do we change spouses' name on orig mortgage. She signed her correct legal name on all signature lines but under all signature lines was printed the last name of the husband. Wife kept her own last name. Now we are trying to ''modify'' the mtg loan but the bank insists she produce proof that she has a different last name.

You can change a name on a deed with a quitclaim deed, but you can't change the name on a mortgage unless the bank agrees. Just do whatever the bank tells you you have to do. Are you sure it really matters?
