Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

About a year ago I tried to apply to live at an apartment. I filled out the applications and was told I would be notified if my credit was good enough or if I would need a guarantor. I told them I wouldn't be able to find a guarantor if I wasn't approved and they said that that would mean that I wouldn't be able to live there. I said ok and waited to find that I wasn't approved. I said ok so that means that I can't move in right? They said yes so I continued looking for a place to live and eventually found one. Now a year later that complex is telling me I own them for the room I did not get approved for or even live in. They did not even give me a copy of the lease. What can I do about this if anything?

Based solely on the facts as you provided them, it sounds ridiculous for an apartment complex to chase you for money when you never accepted the apartment or signed a lease. If they pursue it, have an attorney send a letter on your behalf. I assume they will quickly go away.

It does not seem thqat you owe them anything from what you have posted. write and ask them to provide you proof of what ou owe.
