Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Florida
This Friday deadline-Should I sue?
6 years ago, my boss was charged with S.H.He remained on the job, everyone who testified (except for 2 of us) mysteriously left the company,& he was promoted.3 Months ago, he sexually assulted me on a business trip.I informed HR, and he was given the option of termination or resignation. He resigned with 30 days notice (admitting word for word my story), only to be rehired as a consultant having full access to me.I complained 4 times to my superiors, who were now giving me bad reviews and treating me differently (after 9 years of promotions with the company). Finally I resigned with 60 days notice. They released me on the spot. Offered severance which I have to address by Friday, in lieu of suing. Do I have a case?

I would consult with counsel, myself, or another labor attorney. I would not sign the severance agreement until you know what other actions you may have against your employer.

As tough as it may seem, the mere fact that you have been required to continue working with your previous harasser does not, in and of itself, mean that you have a case. You should really consult with an attorney ASAP. If you want to discuss this further, you can e-mail me at [email protected]
