Re: rape
I am not a criminal law lawyer so I will not hazard a guess on what other charges may be brought against the alleged rapist. It depends on the facts of the case and is something your friend needs to discuss with the D.A.
But she should know that she can sue the alleged rapist in civil court for a variety of torts including assault, battery, false imprisonment and intentional infliction of emotional distress. She can contact an attorney who hanldes tort cases, including sexual battery. She can get a referral from the Bar Association. (The same is true for you.)
Best of luck to you both. (P.S. If one or both of you are dealing with feelings of guilt, revenge, hatred, etc., which are all normal after such traumatic events as you have endured, please seek professional counseling if you have not already. You are entitled to a great deal of support and it should help you tremendously.)
