Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Florida
Hello, here is my situation: in 2001 when I was in middle school (7th grade) I was sexually harrassed by my male teacher. The word got out and the school found out and they pulled me out of class one day. They talked with me and with the teacher. They made me confront him and I could not tell them while he was right there, i was embarrassed. The school decided to take me out for the last two weeks of school before summer break. The school acted like they did not believe me because I was a student that was not making very good grades at the time. I failed that year. Because I was scared to tell the details of our confrontation, I only told everyone (mom and the school) what he verbally said to me. I did not tell them that he also touched me. The worse part of all is he continued to teach and Im sure there are countless little girls that became his victim and will have to live with it forever. I always remember in his class he always had one of the girls sitting next to him at his desk every class. Then I became "one of those girls". Is this too late to pursue?

I'm sorry to hear about what happened. In Florida, there are strict time limits for bringing claims of this type. However, since you were a minor at the time, the time limits may not have expired. Yet, it may expire in the near future. You really need to speak to an attorney who is experienced in this area. These claims are very difficult. In particular, you should look for an attorney who is board certified in civil trial law, as are the attorneys in our office. We'd be happy to speak to you about the situation.
