Legal Question in Social Security Law in Florida

Dissability claim for bipolar/severe anxiety dissorder

I am 26 and have been dealing and struggling with severe anxiety/Bipolar disorder for the past 5 years.

I was agoraphobic for 1 year, until I sought out professional help. I have been prescribed several different medications over the last 4 years and I am currentyl taking 4 to help stabilize my condition. As the years went by my condition has not seemed to get any better.

I have not been able to keep a job or go to school, due to my illness. I am looking desperately for advice on how to file a disability claim with social security, which was recommended by my physician. If you could please inform me of what steps to take, I would be greatfull !

Thank you

Re: Dissability claim for bipolar/severe anxiety dissorder

There are several helpful publications and guides on the Social Security Administration's Website, which is http://www.ssa.gov/. Depending upon what area you live in you might want to call your local bar association, and see if they can refer you to a local attorney who specializes in Social Security Law. If that does not help, you might try the State of Florida Bar's website which is

http://www.flabar.org/. Hope that is helpful.

Simply call or visit your local SS office. You will find them very helpful. If you are turned down then you can use an attorney to appeal.
