Legal Question in Social Security Law in Florida
I got injured couple of years back and my doctor declared me as a handicap. I had been a housewife for over 11 years and my husband is the only income in the family. I don't have enough credits for SSDI, so social security advised me that I should apply for SSI. Which I did, and now have been rejected and got a lawyer. A year passed and waiting on a court date. Now, this is my question after all this time, my husband bring a little less then $2000 a month. Will I get anything money from SSI? I was advised by SS that I would of gotten $721 a month last year if I had kept my doctor (I had gap in insurance due to my other accident and husband getting sick, and medicaid rejected me but not my son). My friend told me that I should get $721 but another person telling me that I'll get nothing. My lawyer is out of town for 1 week and his assistant don't know the answer. Can someone help me if I'm wasting my time? Thank you.

For SSI there is not enough information to give an answer. There is a family unit maximum income, approximately $ 1,200 per month; if the family unit exceeds the max then you may get nothing. Best to speak with your attorney soonest.
