Legal Question in Social Security Law in Florida
I just went to my SSI hearing on the 14th of this month and the judge said she is awarding me benefits, however, this week I am to receive a shared significant amount of cash from the sale of a house my mother left me and my two siblings. My atty said the award letter and therefore my benefits will not begin for 60-90 days. I have many bills to pay (well over 15,000), if this cash is spent before my award letter arrives and my benefits begin and there is no bank account, will I be ok, meaning will I still be able to keep my SSI? Or will they find out and I will lose my benefits?
