Yes, a homeowner can place the the homestead residence in a revocable living trust (grantor trust) and maintain a valid homestead exemption. Qualified Personal Residence Trusts will also allow the owner to maintain a valid homestead exemption (at least for the initial term of the trust). In either case, there must be a valid homestead exemption to begin with.
