Internal Revenue
I had Jackson Hewett do my taxes in 2007. I got an advance loan on my refund. Now the IRS has sent me a letter telling me there was a mistake on my return and I owe $1,980 back to them plus interest. Is Jackson Hewett responsible for this and should they correct it? They never gave me a copy of that return either.

Re: Internal Revenue
Depending on the reason for the additional tax, they may be liable. If you failed to disclose information that resulted in the additional tax, they would usually not be liable. Even though they may not be liable for the tax, they might be liable for the penalty and interest. It all depends upon whether the error was their error or yours.
