I recieved income tax refunds based on my filing (professional firms filed for me) for a number of years. Recently I recieved a letter from the IRS stating that my deductions (that were approved) are not correct and they now want me to repay them a substantial amount of money. I am now disabled, I recieve SSDI. I can not afford to repay the amount they want. I would like to get this amount they claim I owe reduced or reduced to zero. I need help to hire an attorney who can help me with this.

Based on the facts included in your inquiry, my advice is to consider the option of an OIC (Offer in Compromise). Depending on the basis of the tax liability, your assets and expected earnings in the next five years, and other factors, your tax liability may be substantially reduced. You will likely benefit from consulting with a tax attorney to assist you in the OIC and related process.
