I worked for a company for 5 months last year without a social security number, I now have a social security number and they want me to fill out a W-9 form. Do I legally have to fill this form out, as when I was working for them I didnt pay taxes and never had a socail. I was paided by cheque in my name

Your employer is required by law to obtain your SSAN. If you don't provide it, he might fire you. The fact that you didn't get a W-2 or 1099 the previous year does not mean you did not have a duty to file a return or pay taxes. You should consult with someone to determine whether you had a duty to file and determine your tax liability, if any.
