Legal Question in Traffic Law in Florida
I was given a citation which requires a mandatory court appearance in Florida. The officer did not have me sign for the citation. I read on the ticket that my signature is required if the infraction requires a court appearance. I read the same thing under Florida statute 318.14 (2). Is there any loophole here?

While technically the officer can require you to sign the ticket, the officer is not obligated to make you sign the ticket if he doesn't want to. It affects proof that you were served the citation, but by the time you go through the license suspension, late fees, either weeks from now or years from now, your'e going to wish you hadn't ignored it. In other words, no loophole.
