Legal Question in Traffic Law in Florida

Cop ran my plates, discovered I had an expired license(over 4 months), and pulled me over. With no other infractions, I was given a notice to appear for the license violation, but told if I simply renew my license and present it to the judge/clerk then no points or fees will be assessed. Is this true? It seems to conflict with everything I've read online, mostly saying an automatic two points will be assessed to my license. But the cop said otherwise, he said "it'll be like I never even pulled you over. No points, no fines, no nothing...". My driving record is spotless, mind you. Please help. Thanks.

It will help you tremendously if you get a good license. It is possible that you won't have fines or court costs, but that is not something anyone can guarantee. What is likely, though, is that you will get a withhold of adjudication, which means you were not convicted of the offense. That means no points on your license.
