Legal Question in Traffic Law in Florida

In Florida: Concerning a traffic citation based on laser radar but only cited for "failure to obey a traffic control device" If I want to challenge the ticket can I request a Motion of Discovery and request items such as the officers notes both written and electronic, his training and certification, the equipment maintenance and certification? I am personally familiar with officers who are either not properly trained on the equipment or the equipment has not been properly maintained. The officer will use the radar as grounds for the stop and issue a "less expensive" citation usually assuming that the person cited will not contest the "less expensive" option when in fact based on the radar reading he would have never had a reason to make the initial stop. To make a decision on how to continue to proceed with the citation I want to know that all documentation for training and certification is current.

You are entitled to review the appropriate documents at the trial. You are not entitled to traditional discovery rules in traffic court. However, you can also do a public records request as well. Your best bet is to hire an attorney to assist you with this.
