Legal Question in Traffic Law in Florida

Hi im in forida and was in an car collision on 12/27/2012 i didnt have insurance and the driver that hit me had a suspended license ( mine was valid at the time) they said i was at fault because i was in the turning lane and was supposed to yield to uncoming traffic the car that hit me ran a red light and was totaled the aftermath is that my license had a mandatory 1 year suspension due to the fact that i didnt have 25000 to pay for the other drivers lexus and im wondering if i have a case and if i do is it too late being 1 year and 7 months to take it to court
