Legal Question in Traffic Law in Florida

What happened was There was an accident on the main drag. I pulled off the road into a parking lot in an attempt to turn around. Traffic was so jammed that I could not make the turn (needed to cross traffic). So from a stop, I slowly went around a short sidewalk that divided two parking lots (6 to 8 feet in length). Two wheels drove over the walkway and two wheels on the road and proceeded into the adjoining lot of a store. At that point I stopped to let a car back out of a parking space, a female sheriff who was directing traffic around the disable cars approached me and told me to pull it over! A few minutes later a different sheriff (male) approached me and wrote me a ticket for endangering lives by driving down a sidewalk in which I didnt do(I believe I crossed the sidewalk). As I was waiting for the officernumerous cars were making their way through the parking lot to turn around and head in the same direction that I planned to go? It seems this is a stretch of the laws intention? If I was endangering the lives of people (no one was around), how did the officer approach me on foot? Should I just pay the ticket or do I have an argument to fight for? It was $166.00 ticket and 3 points!

To answer your question, we would need to know what statute they charged you under. It could be the ticket is incorrectly charged or there may be other defenses. Your description sounds as if you may have comitted an infraction but without knowing more I couldn't tell you. Take the time to call an attorney and see if you have any defenses to this.
