Legal Question in Traffic Law in Florida
HI:
I recently received a failure to maintain lane ticket by a florida state trooper. I was unfamiliar with the area, and to complicate matters there where cones in some areas due to road construction. I became aware I needed to move one lane over to be able to turn left onto turnpike. the light had just turned green with an arrow for left turn, so the traffic was moving 5 to 10 miles per hour. I signaled with my blinker to move into the left lane ...next to me. There was space and the car behind appeared to be giving me even more space (ie. just being couteous). There was a state tooper behind him. After I entered the lane and made the left hand turn...I was stopped by the trooper and given a ticket for failure to maintain lane. There was no conflict, No horn, no reason for me not to make the lane change that I could see. I was fully aware of the car behind me and had enough room to make the change even without the help of that car. I don't know if the trooper was forced to slow down and got bothered....but he gave me a ticket. Is it legit....is it worth fighting ??
