Legal Question in Traffic Law in Florida

i was issued a citation a few months ago for driving with an expired tag, i had just got my car back that day and got it late in the day after the tags office closed. so i drove straight home. in the middle of the night i drove to the store for food just a few hours before the tags office opened and got a citation for driving with expired tags. a few hours later i got my tag renewed. the officer told me to do a court date and hed try to get the judge to waive the citation since i got my tags the same day. i put the wrong date into my calendar and phone i put the 28th and it was really the 26th. i found this out 10 minutes to 5pm on the 26th. everything was closing and i didnt get to call and tell them i accidently missed the date and didnt get to ask if i can reschedule. i am praying that they dont just automatically charge me the citation plus court fees and a whole bunch more money. i cannot afford it and am already struggling immensely in my lifes situations. someone please let me know what will happen. this is winter springs, florida in seminole county. im going to call tommorrow morning to see what i can do but the anticipation of not knowing what will probably happen is eating me up inside. someone please help....

I'm sure this answer comes much later than you need, but you are doing the right thing by contacting the court. You will probably have to pay a late fee however. If you really need to fight this, then you should consider hiring a traffic attorney.
