Legal Question in Traffic Law in Florida
Is it against the law to appeal directly to a hearing officer, basically asking the hearing officer to reconsider a guilty verdict or to allow me to change my plea to no contest after the hearing? It's a traffic violation and I was found guilty in court just yesterday. I went to court sick and with a high fever but it was too late to request another date and I didn't have the time to fully think about what was even being offered in court. The violation is going 80 in a 55 mile-per-hour Zone. Will the hearing officer even look at my request? I'm hoping to have the points removed.

You can always ask. They don't have to grant it though and your only recourse may be an actual appeal.
