Legal Question in Traffic Law in Florida
I got a letter from the department of motor vehicles yesterday stating my license would be suspended today if I didn't get Sr22 coverage for a ticket that I got in 2/2013. How is this allowed when I am not given enough time to comply.
1 Answer from Attorneys
It's allowed because you had three years to comply. In other words, if you paid it, or hired an attorney for the ticket back then, then you would not have gotten the DMV letter. However, past is past, and going forward, you just need to pay it. You may be able to work out a payment plan and they will release the hold causing the suspension. That way you can get your license back. Of course, you will also need to show proof of insurance too to get your license which is also expensive, but some insurers will work with you on that as well. Good luck.
