Legal Question in Traffic Law in Florida
I live in Connecticut and plan on buying a vehicle in Miami, FL. Unfortunately, the seller has expired Wisconsin plates on it. The short of it is he moved from Wisconsin to Florida and didn't bother registering in FLA because he was selling it. My insurance will insure the car based on the VIN just so I can get it home and register it in my name. With insurance and clear title in my possession, how much trouble can I get into driving it home? Fine? Impound? Worse? Thanks for any info you can provide.

You should just go to the DMV and get an in-transit plate. If you get pulled over without a proper plate you could get anything from a fine to possibly getting arrested for knowingly driving without a tag depending on the jurisdiciton you pass through.
