Middle man charged for Careless Driving

3 car accident: Damage to 1st= $10.00, 2nd=2$20.00,3rd= $200.00. 1st car brakes to avoid hitting a dog. My son hits him, the 3rd hits my son. My son was charged for careless driving but the 3rd driver was not. Why was my son charged for careless driving and the 3rd driver not charged??

Re: Middle man charged for Careless Driving

Unfortunately, you can not force an officer to charge another person. But under Florida law the last drive in a multi car collision is just as liable as the first. The theory is that accidents are expected and every person should drive in a manner that they can react to potential accidents.

There is no answer to your question, other than the third person was lucky and got off.

Your son might want to challenge the ticket, if no one shows up the court will dismiss it.
