Legal Question in Traffic Law in Florida
Open Container
In june of 99 I was cited for open container and was fined $50. I was visiting my parents from Illinois and elected to pay the fine instead of contest. The citing officer told me that it was a non-moving violation since we were not in the car. Just recently I have been dropped by my old insurance company and am paying an extremely high rate of insurance. Is there any way of contesting this now?

Re: Open Container
It is now too late to contest this
charge in court, but you may want
to write your insurance company a
letter and explain the circumstances
of this occurrence. Also, write
the Department of Insurance, State
of Illinois, and complain about this
dramatic increase.
