Legal Question in Traffic Law in Florida

While in Pensacola,Fl I was going 68 mph in a 30 so I got a citation along with a mandatory court date. I'm in the US military and I was wondering if a "plea in absentia" was the the best available option for me. Here is my situation. Right now I am in San Diego,California on orders and there is NO way I can make the court which is July 19. Also In about a week and a half I'm going to Japan for two years. I already have the plea in absentia paperwork on its way.

Thank you

In Florida, a speeding citation for going in excess of 30 miles over the speed limit requires a mandatory court appearance. That being said, you can hire an attorney to represent you in this matter and they can take care of the ticket for you. I don't say this to encourage you to hire me, as I do not practice in Pensacola. I do recommend that you hire local counsel in Pensacola to represent you.

Best of luck,
