Legal Question in Traffic Law in Florida

My question is below. I don't know what to do or what my options are.

Driving north on Congress Avenue to Petsmart. At intersection of Blue Heron Blvd. /Congress Avenue, turned right, heading south on Blue Heron. Realizing that I had turned onto the wrong road I immediatley shifted to the left lane and turned left at the median crossing across from Dunkin Donuts to turn around and head west on Blue Heron. I then turned right onto Congress Avenue. I noticed a police car behind me so I pulled over and stopped, rolled down my window and turned off the radio. The officer stopped and yelled for me to put my hands up and out of the window. I complied. Two other police cars approached and stopped. I was then ordered out of the car while keeping my hands up. I complied and was spun around, spread eagled and handcuffed while lying across the back of my car. One officer asked if I was holding anything and I asked holding what. The officer said you know, holding anything? I said I do not do drugs or smoke. Another officer said they thought I had stolen the vehicle. I do not believe I was going more than 5-7 miles over the speed limit if that. After checking out my car and license, they said I was being charged with reckless driving and failure to stop at a red light. (I did stop, looked for oncoming traffic and then turned right.) I stated that I didnt realize I had done anything wrong and apologized if I had. The officer stated that since I had been cooperative he would not take me into custody but would be giving me a ticket for failure to stop at a red signal and one for reckless driving. One officer kept saying all the while that I had ruined his coffee break.

Unfortunately, you need to hire a lawyer. Reckless driving is a criminal offense, unlike failure to obey a traffic control device. It is a misdemeanor, and will go on you record. If you would like to discuss your options further, please feel free to contact me at your convenience. You can e-mail me at [email protected] or call my office at 813-374-2216.

Good luck, and let me know if I can be of help.
