Legal Question in Traffic Law in Florida
I recently moved to Florida. In order to register my car I need to retitle it. I have been told that I need to pay a large fee because there is some kind of extra amount charged if I have not had a tag in Florida before. I grew up here and my first three cars were registered here. I produced a photograph that had a picture of the back of my VW with the tag clearly showing. I was told "it is not in the system". How can I get help with this matter? It seems that they just don't want to go to the trouble to look it up in older records.

They are mostly right. However, if you don't have an existing vehicle registered than this will be considered a new vehicle registration and you will have to pay the full fee.
