Legal Question in Traffic Law in Florida
I recently sold an antique truck that I owned for about 8 months here in Florida. The truck had a VIN tag on the door that showed as a 1963 ford. So I sold it as what is on the title as I bought it. Later the man I sold it to found another VIN located elsewhere on the truck that I was not aware of. That VIN shows it as a 1961 ford. Same type of truck just different year. He called me and left a message saying that I had to come pick the truck up and give his money back. Says I did him wrong. I had no idea hat it had two different VINs associated with the vehicle. When he first brought the problem up to me I went straight to my local DMV and asked what needed to be done to fix the problem. The man just isn't taking it to the DMV to fix the title to the correct VIN. What can I do?
1 Answer from Attorneys
You had no intent to do anything criminal. At this point, you could hire an attorney to get a declaratory judgment. Or, you could do nothing, and likely that person will do nothing. If they sue you, then you have a defense, although you should get a civil attorney to protect yourself.
