Re: Red Light Violation - jail
Without speaking with you to get all of the facts, I won't offer a formal, legal opinion. However, running a red light/stop sign is a civil infraction. An officer may not arrest a driver for a civil infraction. If the officer added a misdemeanor, such as, reckless driving, susp. license, possession of false ID, etc., etc., he/she may make an arrest. You question states there is no other infraction or charge. 'Hope this helped. Tom Rosenblum.
