Legal Question in Traffic Law in Florida
Truck was in an accident (at fault) with another vehicle and recovered by a towing service and stored on their site by order of Police. The next day while we are told by the towing service that insurance will pay the towing charge, but we are responsible for the recovery charge. The recovery charge explanation was the sweeping of debris from the road and is $170. The car will not be released until this is paid and there is a $21 daily storage fee. $170 appears to be price gouging. What are my legal options?
1 Answer from Attorneys
That fee might be a normal amount. If you want to challenge it, then you should get an attorney to recover your property as there are strict laws on how and when a towing company can hold your vehicle and you might even get attorney's fees. Call a civil attorney in your area.
