Legal Question in Traffic Law in Florida

U-Turn Violation?

Heading west, it's necessary to make a U-turn to take my son to school. There is a ''No U-Turn between 7:30am-8:30am'' posted. I looked at my watch, it was 7:28am, so I made the U-turn. I received a ticket. The time on the ticket is 7:36am. Should I fight it? How can I prove I didn't break the law?

NOTE: This communication is not intended as and should not be interpreted as legal advice. Rather, it is intended solely as a general discussion of legal principles. You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. By reading the "Response" to your question or comment, you agree that the opinion expressed is not intended to, nor does it, create any attorney-client relationship, nor does it constitute legal advice to any person reviewing such information, nor will it be considered an attorney-client privileged communication. If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.

It will be difficult to prove that you did not violate the law. That being said, you should definitely fight the ticket as a conviction is a moving violation and will result in points being assessed on your license and possible increase in your car insurance. I would strongly recommend that you hire a traffic attorney who will handle this case for a nominal charge. They are usually well versed in the applicable law and can usually obtain the best possible results for you.
