Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Florida

What should I accept as a reasonable amount of time for my lawyer to comply with my request for him to send a response letter to another lawyer? It has taken him several weeks in the past. Because of this I made a point to ask when the letter would be sent and his response was three days. It has been seventeen days and his secretary told me that she only just received it. I have left three requests for him to call me and have not heard from him. It has been five months and we still are not close to filing for probate on my father's estate in FL. We need the original will from a lawyer in NY. Can the lawyer in NY withhold sending the document and under what circumstances? Meanwhile the cost for the monthly bills is steadily increasing.

It is quite impossible to answer this inquiry without more details. The one you should be discussing this with is your attorney. If you are not satisfied with what is going on than sit down with him/her and discuss it. The NY lawyer needs to divest himself of the original will if it is to be probated in Florida. He needs to be advised about that. Is there a concomitant probate in NY that requires the original will too? Not sure how your monthly bills are increasing, assuming you mean legal bills, as the probate has not yet been filed.
