Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Florida

Bank Account Unclaimed by Beneficiary

My mother established a savings account with a friend's money at her request

and named her as the beneficiary. My mother died in February of 2004 (it will

be one year on 2/26/05). This woman is unable to claim the funds. The

bank says it probably won't accept a notarized letter of authorization for me

to collect this money on her behalf. Two questions: any other ideas about

how I can collect it, and what happens to the money ($1000) if the

anniversary of my mother's death passes and the beneficiary does not collect

it?

Re: Bank Account Unclaimed by Beneficiary

Ask the bank for their power of attorney form.

Get the woman to give you her power of attorney on the bank's form.
