Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Florida
My brother and I recently signed a contract with a lawyer to enter our mom's will into probate.Foolishly,we did not consult with anyone else.We have found other attorneys who will do it for much less money.Does the 3 day cooling off period to cancel apply in this situation?

It depends on what the contract says with the lawyer. However, I would add one very important thing. Just because you found somebody to do it cheaper does not mean they would be doing the same thing as the lawyer you hired. Sometimes you get what you pay for is a very true statement. I tell all my clients to go with the attorney they are most comfortable with. Sometimes that attorney will cost more and sometimes less, but in the long run it is better to be happy with who you are comfortable with. You don't want to hire a cheap attorney and pay him several hundred/thousands dollars only to find out he wasn't doing a good job and then end up going back to the attorney you originally had.
I would recommend speaking frankly with your attorney and discussing your concerns. Be sure you fully understand what the attorney is charging for vs. your comparison costs from other attorneys. If you still are uncomfortable with your current attorney, you can terminate the relationship. You will likely be responsible for paying for any work already done by the attorney.
