Only if there was an agreement she was to be paid.
Obviously, if there was an agreement to be paid the caregiver is to be paid. However, there are circumstances where caregivers can get paid even without a contract. There are several factors to consider when determining whether compensation is warranted.
One method of compensation can come if the elderly person passes away. Many times a caregiver can file a claim through the probate for compensation for services. There are sometimes even benefits to the estate if these claims are made properly.
If you are still providing care and not being compensated you should speak with your family members about some compensation schedule.
