Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Florida

Caregiver; Verbal compensation contract

Hello, my name is David and for the past two years I have been a caregiver in Florida with my long-time friend, caring for his aunt who initially broke her hip and later developed dementia. While she was still in the pre-dementia state, there was a spoken contract before her and myself that I was to be paid a set amount hourly, 24 hours a day until she passed. The funding for my payment was agreed to come from the sale of her house. There are several witnesses and persons that can attest to this fact, many of which are long-time and family friends. The problem is that this was never written. She of course has recently passed and I am needing to find an attorney who specializes in this area. As I mentioned before, though it was never written, there are at LEAST 10 different friends of hers who can attest to this. I feel lost! Any help is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks! -David

Re: Caregiver; Verbal compensation contract

Unless it is in writing, not much you can do. You can try to contest the will and submit affadavits from all the witnesses.

I suggest you see a probate attorney.
