Court fee

If a bond is required by the court, the fee is approximately 1.5% of the total assets of the estate. What does that mean and how much is 1.5% of an estate.

Re: Court fee

In Illinois the bond is equal to 150% of the value of the personal property in the probate estate. When the petition for Letters of Office is filed with the Court one of the questions is the value of the personalty. This is the value used to determine the initial bond. Do Not Be Confused. This is not the premium on the bond to be submitted to the court. If surety is waived there is no cost and it is a personal bond. Otherwise a the surety bond must be purchased from a bonding company.
