When my dad died his car was turned in, they sold it at auction with a balance of $12,000.00! can they go after his house to get there money if the house is paid for?

Possibly. did you do a probate and get the judge to issue homestead exemption so that they can not do so?

Really not able to answer this question without more information. Was Dad married when he died? Did he live in the property when he died? Did anyone else live in the house when he died? Was there a probate filed? Was the probate completed? Was the car company given notice of the probate? Did they file a claim? I would suggest you contact an attorney with all your records.
