Debts owed by a deceased spouse
My father recently passed away due to cancer. He had a credit card in his name only but with my mother being a card holder. The account was in my fathers name only. He got a card for my mother to use. The credit card company has contacted my mother and told her that she must pay the bill either with monthly payments or in full. My understanding about this is when my father died the account closed. My mother never used the card. Is she responceable for the balance owed?

She is not, his estate is.
