Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Florida
defered compensation
My brother, who has just died, was owed a large sum of money in deferred wages from the company he worked for. As his sole beneficiary, can I get this company to pay me.

An estate will need to be filed and a personal representative appointed. If you are the only living relative, you can do it alone. If there are others including mother/father or brothers/sisters, they should join in unless he left a will naming you as his personal representative.
The estate can then seek the monies from the company he worked for. If they refuse to pay, the personal representative can file suit on behalf of the estate to seek payment.
