Executor?

I'm told that I cannot use an out of state executor

unless he or she is a relative. Is this true or is

there an alternative?

You were given correct information. To qualify as a personal representative a non-resident must must be related to the deceased or the spouse of someone related to the deceased. The statutes all require that the personal representive be over 18 years of age and never convicted of a felony.
