How do family members see financial details of estate when one has durable power

When one member has durable power of attorney over financial affairs, how do the other members confirm the status of assets and their disbursement. Is there any legal avenue that can be used to monitor financial activity to be sure that funds aren't being misused?

Not really. If you suspect foul play, you can ask the court to intervene. But in the mean time, unless you also have a POA, have your name on the accounts, or other separate rights, there isn't much you can do. Sorry.
